5 Steps to Prepare for a Job Interview

Preparation is key to doing well in a job interview. There are steps you can take to be your best.

There are many ways that you can prepare for an interview, but I want to suggest you take on these 5 steps so that your preparation is as effective as it can be.

  1. Read through the job description three times over and put yourself in the shoes of the job. Make sure you know what's expected of you and what you'll be responsible for doing.

  2. Get to know the company well. Understand what they do, who they serve and what role you'll play and the contribution you'll make to the company. Recruiters and hiring managers alike look for interest and enthusiasm, among other things from a candidate.

  3. Think about potential interview questions that may be asked of you and then think about how you'll respond. Perhaps enlist professional interview coaching to ensure you put your best foot forward and are well prepared.

  4. Think about relevant working examples and how you can tie these to the role. If you have had to address a set of key selection criteria for the position, go over your examples and perhaps think of new ones.

  5. Make sure you understand and fully comprehend your selling points and what makes you a great fit for the role. Know your worth and what makes you the best fit for the role.

I hope these steps will help you to put your best foot forward and make an impression that lasts. Most importantly, being well prepared will help you to feel more confident too.
