BRISBANE SELECTION CRITERIA WRITERS

ADDRESSING SELECTION CRITERIA

Expertly wordsmithed.

Individualised for you.

Durable responses are those that are concise, incorporate examples and demonstrate that the candidate meets the set criteria, both in skill and experience.

Is there a role that you would like to apply for in Brisbane which requires you to address a set of key selection criteria?

It can be daunting, we know. But it doesn't have to be. We are specialists in addressing selection criteria.

We'll write for you tailored and individualized responses that are unique and concise, straight to the point. We will also incorporate your experience and demonstrate how it relates to the requirements of the role. We also use the SAO approach.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

IMPORTANCE OF GOOD WRITTEN RESPONSES

The person reading your application letter has limited time to go through every applicant. They will browse through your letter addressing the selection criteria, and if upon reading a couple of sentences that take their interest, will most likely add you to the shortlisted pile.

When addressing each criterion, always remember that employers and recruitment agents in Brisbane are specifically looking at each question and your response in detail. If they feel at any point in time that you have just done a copy a paste response and did not tailor your answer to the employer, they will be put off and disregard your application for employment.  Questions are usually the same but your responses should always be tweaked so that your application comes across personal to that employer.

OUR APPROACH

Your answers to each criterion should have at least 1 – 2 prime and concrete examples that demonstrate your aptitude in that given area and shows you can do what they are after. We are aware that writing responses to key selection criteria can take a long time and seem like forever, which is why we are here to help.

USING THE RESPONSES FOR FUTURE APPLICATIONS

You can always reuse the letter addressing the selection criteria that we write for you again. But make sure you tweak the answers to suit.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every selection criteria that we write is personalised and tailored for you and to the position. We use appropriate keywords and concrete answers that accurately respond to the question and demonstrate your capabilities, even with transferable skills applied. When addressing the key selection criteria, we make sure that each answer is maximum half a page long and specifically addresses the statement or question.

We conduct extensive research by going through the position description and deciphering what the Brisbane employer is looking for, what is involved in the role and then using the terminology used in the job description and including it where appropriate when making an answer to each criterion.

We try to follow the 'SAO' approach when writing out a response. This is by addressing the "Situation"; "Action" and "Approach". However, every response is going to be written differently. Each answer is also structured to have an introduction, body, and conclusion which then ties everything neatly in a readable and understandable manner. In writing out each response, we believe it to be very important to be truthful and positive, not exaggerating or downplaying your skills, capabilities, and experience.

A demonstrated ability to negotiate persuasively and to successfully listen, understand and adapt to a range of audiences is required for this role, as well as appropriate qualifications.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with diverse groups of people in my past and present employment and have the ability to communicate effectively with people on all levels to produce excellent working relationships. This has equipped me with the high level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, proficiency in mediation and conflict resolution, which I have consistently demonstrated in a wide range of contexts and with diverse groups of people. I have established a reputation as a highly skilled presenter, having conducted training and seminars at the state, national, and district levels.

I have maintained a high ability to represent the Business Entity in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts. I was also the Coordinator of Programs at Shorten Institute, which required me to further develop a cultural focus through continuous partnership building with internal stakeholders and the various communities. Achieving this required me to further build upon extensive relationships with the community and private interested parties, Executive Directors, Learning Portfolio Managers, and Managing Directors. This enabled me to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding across the Institution on protocols and customs.

I am currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree, in Management and Human Resources at University Institute. This course is helping me to develop the transferable skills and knowledge in verbal and interpersonal communication, critical thinking and problem-solving, negotiation and time management. In addition to this, I have been actively involved in assisting and enhancing work opportunities for young people, and so I have been able to use my degree to the full extensively throughout my career today.

EXAMPLE RESPONSE TO A CRITERIA
Our key focus is for the hiring manager to read your application.
We want to make an impression.

HOW THE HIRING MANAGER USES INFORMATION FROM YOUR RESPONSES TO SELECTION CRITERIA.

Hiring managers and employers will use all the information that you provided in your criteria responses to assess how well you meet the selection criteria for the position.

How you address the criteria will make a difference, as the employer will compare your answers and experiences to other applicants.

So, the information that you provide for each criterion is crucial as this is what the hiring manager will use to determine if you will move to the next stage.

OUR SERVICE

HOW MANY EXAMPLES SHOULD I INCLUDE IN EACH RESPONSE TO SELECTION CRITERIA?

When addressing selection criteria, generally one or two examples is good to include in your response. But there must be at least one example in each answer.

You can fit in more experiences if you have them; however, this may make the response too lengthy. Being mindful of the person who is reading your application is the best thing to do.
