Selection Criteria – The structure and incorporating examples

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

When addressing each selection criteria, at least 1 or 2 prime and concrete examples need to be incorporated into your response. Choose examples that demonstrate your aptitude and are relevant to what the criteria is asking for.

There is also an interesting article on this topic about how detailed responses to each selection criterion should be that you may find to be a useful read.

The structure of each response should include an introduction, body and conclusion, which then ties everything neatly in a readable and understandable manner. When writing the example in your response, try to follow the ‘SAO’ approach. While incorporating an example into the response, try to adjust and expand on your examples so that it outlines the “Situation”; “Action” and “Approach” that you took.

In writing out each response, it is crucial to be truthful and positive, not exaggerating or downplaying your skills, capabilities or experience.
